Atlantic Immigration Program and Process

The Atlantic provinces of Canada were provided with an Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) program which was launched in 2017, and it is set with the target of inviting 7000 migrants to the Atlantic region of Canada by the end of the year 2020. Recently, in March 2019, the program has been extended to Dec 2021. There are three subcategories in this program, and the candidates need to meet the eligibility requirements in order to be selected for migration in the Atlantic region. The three subcategories are –

• Atlantic High Skilled Program (AHSP) – This program is meant for skilled workers who have high school education to their credit and have attained a job offer for a full- time continuous occupation in NOC skill type O, A or B from any of the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. The other requirements of the program include –

  • Work experience of the technical, managerial or professional field for one year
  • Language competency of reasonable stature
  • Enough funds to settle
  • Minimum of High school education as per Canada education board standard

Atlantic Intermediate Skilled program (AISP) – This Program includes the candidates who have a minimum of high school education to their credit and a full-time continuous occupation in NOC Skill Type O, A, B or C from an Atlantic province in Canada. The requirements for this program entail-

  • A minimum language score in English or French
  • High school education of Canadian standards as a minimum
  • Enough funds to support oneself and family
  • Job specific training for a minimum period of one year.

Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP) – This program is for the graduates of international origins, and they have a job offer of at least one year in NOC skill type O, A or B or C from an employer from the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. The core eligibility requirement of this program are -

  • Have a graduate degree or diploma to his credit
  • Good money to support oneself and family to settle
  • A minimum language score in either English and French Language
  • The candidate should have live in Atlantic province for at least 16 months in the last two years.

As noted, one of the crucial requirements in all these subcategories is a job offer. Thus, it can be safely said that Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) Program is an employer-driven pilot program.
